Notice was overlooked last week of the marriage of Mr. Will MOORE of this place to Miss FRENCH of Poor Valley. A handsome little woman will hereafter make brighter the life of the late bachelor.

Mr. Cecil PEERY will be a student at Roanoke College the coming term.

Mr. Ed. BELEW has returned from Cedar Bluff. Mr. WHITE remains for a time.

There is not a vacant house, shop or shanty in the town, and while building still goes on, the demand is not met.

Rev. M. W. DOGGETT will return from Liberty Hill Sunday afternoon, and will supply his pulpit here in Jeffersonville at night.

Mr. B. W. STRAS has bought land from Mr. George BUSTON, north of Main street, and will build a residence for himself. In this building another "ornament to the town" may be looked for.

Mr. R. A. SAUNDERS arrived last night and is getting his business in shape for a big opening. His goods will arrive daily from Graham. Mr. T.A. LYNCH will be found at the new store.

Last night Pocahontas officers brought to town a negro who had carved up a man. While waking the porter at the hotel the officers left the prisoner on the outside tied with ropes. He used a secreted razor to cut the cords and silently stole away.
