Mr. T.H. WICKHAM, of Pocahontas, was in town
during the week.

who afterwards had both legs amputated, one the second time, died from
his injuries the first of the week.

of a large family of children and was well known throughout the

The people of the town were suddenly awakened Wednesday morning by the
cry of fire. It was found to be in the roof of Judge GRAHAM'S
residence, several hundred yards from main street. It was extinguished
before any serious damage was done.
Mrs. RADER, mother of Mr. W.E. RADER, deid at the home of
the latter on Tuesday last. Mrs. RADER was over 90 years years of
age and was a great great grandmother. Until the death of her daughter,
Mrs. T.H. GILLEPSIE, some months ago, there were five living
generations of the family.
Three men suspected of horse stealing were arrested at Cleveland Russell
County, Saturday. One of them snapped his revolver at an officer, and
was painfully if not mortally shot by them. Two horses were found in the
neighborhood and were claimed by Messrs. PRESTON and WHITE,
of Washington.
The Methodist church at this place is without a pastor. The Rev. Mr.
BROWN took French leave on Monday evening last and his whereabouts
are unknown. Something of mystery has been thrown around the case, but
there was history and rumor enough to make discretion the better part of
valor it seems. At any rate he has skipped, vamoosed. His wife still
here, is held in high esteem by all her acquaintances.
