POUNDING MILL

Miss Sallie MAXWELL left Sunday to spend a couple weeks with her mother, who is ill at her home at Gap Store.

The dance given on last Thursday night by Mr. and Mrs. T.H. BRYANT was enjoyed by all present. Refreshments were served at 12 o'clock and the large crowd reluctantly dispersed at three, thanking the kind host and hostess for the delightful evening. The excellent music was made by Mr. and Mrs. Bob STEELE of Steelsburg.

Misses Callie and Pearl MCGUIRE, of Cedar Bluff visited their sister Mrs. W.B. STEELE last Thursday and Friday. Uva and Rex STEELE went home with them to spend the week.

Misses Maggie and Vivian GILLESPIE are visiting their relatives Mr and Mrs. R.K. GILLESPIE.

Messrs. J.B. SCOTT and S.H. GRIFFITTS each has a very sick child. The former is not expected to live. Both have cholera infantum, which is prevalent in the surrounding neighborhood.

Mr. J.B. HANKINS of Tazewell, spent one night last week with is aunt, Mrs. J.M. LAMBERT.

Mr and Mrs. Sam WITTEN of Pisgah visited their sister, Mrs. T.H. BRYANT Thursday and Friday.

Mr. Will MULKEY has moved into M. M. HANKIN'S property.

Messrs. W. B. STEELE and C.H. HUNT attended Tazewell court Tuesday.

Married on the 15th, at the brides sister's Mr. James QUISENBERRY (Quesenberry) to Miss Alice CALDWELL. The party immediately after the ceremony retired to the groom's father's (Frederick Quesenberry) to enjoy the good dinner which was prepared there.
