LOCAL NEWS

Jesse MCCALL, son of Mr. J.M. MCCALL, died at his home in Graham on Saturday last. The body was brought to his place for burial on Monday. He had been in feeble health for some time, being carried off by consumption, which was apparently brought on by a severe attack of grip some years  ago. His immediate family has a very large connection to deplore his untimely taking off.

Mrs. Rose KROLL has been on a visit at Col. T. G. WITTEN'S.

Dr. C. W. GREEVER was up from Graham during the week.

Rev. William H. PRICE is in town for quarterly meeting at Kelly tomorrow and Sunday.

Rev. Tobias SMITH, at one time pastor of the Methodist church at this place is dead.

Lawyer R. D. HOWE, editor of the Richlands News, was at the court house Wednesday.

Rev. W. A. SIMMONS will preach in the Baptist church next Sunday morning at 11 o'clock.

Dr. GILLESPIE has suffered ill luck with his dogs. A very fine hound, just shipped to him, strayed away, while another died.

Benjamin SHORTRIDGE, one of the men beaten and robbed at Richlands by the negroes afterward lynched, died of his injuries Wednesday.
