Mr. J.Y. CRAWFORD is not yet able to be out.

The many sick at Mr. I.E. CHAPMAN'S are reported better.

Rev. Mr. RAMEY will preach in the Baptist church next Sunday morning at 11AM.

Miss Ella BAYLOR, a popular Tazewell belle, was married on the 23rd. inst. to Mr. James GIBSON, of Lee County.

The young society people were invited to the home of Mr. and Mrs. A.D.W. WALTON last evening for a lackey (?) party.

The Misses THORNTON were given a reception and dance at the Virginia House last Monday evening, at which quite a number were present.

Rev. Jos. STRAS came on from Roanoke by request to conduct the funeral exercises of his friend, Dr. James PEERY. His wife accompanied him and stopped here to see her mother, Mrs. SPOTTS, who has been unwell.

A very severe wind prevailed all of Saturday night last, destroying some property in the way of fences and injuring buildings. Several houses were partially unroofed, including the Seminary. A stable belonging to Judge GRAHAM was blown down, killing a cow. Nearly all signs on Main Street were twisted from their hangings.
