Messrs Lee HAYNES and Frank PYOTT have returned from Emory and Henry College. Mr. HAYNES captured the medal for English Composition this year.

Messrs, Clarence KELLY, of Norton, and John KELLY of Bedford, were called home this week by the death of their father.

Rev. J.B. GREEVER, of Graham came down Thursday on a short business trip.

The misses BROWN of Lynchburg, have arrived at Dr. O'KEEFFE'S to spend the summer.

Mr. A.P GILLESPIE has returned from Welch.

Miss Douglas STUBBS, who has been teaching in Mr. John ST. CLAIR'S family for several months, passed through town last Sat.

Messrs. WALKER and William BOWEN, sons of Capt. Henry BOWEN, returned this week from Hampden Sidney College.

Minister H.M. SMYTHE arrived today. He will spend his vacation here and in Pocahontas.

Miss May Vernon SHELBURNE is afflicted with the measles.

Miss Barbara SEXTON, of Wytheville, is visiting Mrs. J. D. HARRISSON.

Miss Bessie THOMPSON of Thompson's Valley is stopping by Sheriff CROCKETT'S.

Messrs. J. F. HURT and Hubert RAVEN, two of Richlands best citizens, were here on business the first of the week.

Mr. John BRITTIAN has gone to Bristol to see his wife, who is visiting there.
