JUDGE J.P. KELLY DEAD - One of Tazewell's Prominent and Most Public-Spirited Citizens Passes Away.

Judge James P. KELLY, of this place, died at five o'clock pm on last Sunday. In his death one of the landmarks of Tazewell is gone. It would be difficult, if not impossible, to find a man who has done more for the improvement and advancement of the town and the welfare of this fellowman, than has Judge KELLY. To him, is due the quietness and order or our streets on public days. Through his influence came about much of the love for beautifying the home which makes this town one of note for beauty and cleanliness. The town of Kelly, named for him, owes it's growth largely to him. His demise leaves a vacancy which cannot be filled, and it is with genuine regret that we shall miss his kindly smile and cordial greeting. The funeral took place Monday afternoon at five o'clock from the Presbyterian church, Rev. B. W. S. BISHOP officiating. The pallbearers were: Active, James W. SPOTTS, William PEIRCE, W. T. GILLESPIE, Dr. R.B. GILLESPIE, George W. ST. CLAIR, E. L. GREEVER, W.T. WITTEN, and H.W. O'KEEFFE. Honorary. A.J. MAY, J.R. GILDERSLEEVE, S.C. GRAHAM, James O'KEEFFE, J. C. SPOTTS, R.R. HENRY, George W. GILLESPIE, and I.E. CHAPMAN. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved relatives.
