Mr. and Mrs. Peery BRITTIAN of Tazewell spent several days with their relatives, Mr and Mrs. R.K. GILLESPIE. Mr. R. M. SPARKS is again drumming and reports a fair trade.

Mr. H. C. ALDERSON and Dr. LANDON, of Tazewell were at this place fishing Friday & Saturday, guest of Mr. W. B. STEELE.  Mr. Isom QUESENBERRY is very ill with flux.

Messrs. Sam FORD, T.D. WILLIAMS and P.M. ALDER went to Cedar Bluff Sunday afternoon and walked back. Mrs. A.H. GOODPASTURE is very ill with flux. Dr. JOHNSON of Dry Fork is the attending physician.

Mr. Will MULKEY got his hand badly mashed one day last week. Mr. GRAHAM is agent at this place during the absence of Mr. FORD.

Miss Alice HUNT returned Sat. from Pembroke where she attended the reception, as brides maid, of Mr. and Mrs. (Miss Dora Durham) STIFF. She spent Friday at Mountain Lake, accompanied by the bride and groom, Miss Ella MCGUIRE, Miss STIFF, Messrs. Will DURHAM, T. A & E. W. MCGUIRE, of Cedar Bluff and others. She reports as having had a very pleasant trip.

Mr. B. WARD, of Bear Wallow, has brought the Thomas property near the depot and is having it completed preparatory to moving his family here.

Miss Hattie GRIFFITTS, who was too ill to attend school part of last week, is out again.

Mrs. Tom JOHNSON died of flux on last Friday night at 8:20. The funeral was preached Sunday at 10am by Rev. FERGUSON to a large audience and the remains interred at Ratliff graveyard. Mrs. JOHNSON was a good woman and belonged to the Christian church. She leaves a husband and seven children to mourn.
