Mr. A.B. BUCHANAN, of Thompson Valley was in town yesterday. Mrs. J. B. BOYER has returned from a protracted stay in Baltimore.

Dr. James O'KEEFFE attended the banquet given to the coal operator's at Hotel Graham Tuesday.
Mrs. Linnie GILLESPIE and daughter, Mrs. STONE are visiting relatives in the county.

We are pleased to state that Mr. E.L. GREEVER, who has been sick for several weeks is improving.

Mr. H.W. O'KEEFFE left for the Lynchburg Fair Wednesday. He took with him his fine pacing colt, Henry Bowen, and his thoroughbred mare, Old Miss.

Rev. James HUFFORD of Pulaski, a cousin of our townsman, Dr. HUFFORD, will preach in the Lutheran church at North Tazewell the first Sunday morning in Oct. and will preach here in the evening on the same day.

On Saturday evening last, Conrad TYNES, son of Capt. A.J. TYNES, got into an altercation with two boys named GILLESPIE, near his home at "Rocky Dell," and was struck in the head with a stone, from the effects of which he has been laid up since and his life despaired of.

Married, at Hazel Green Ky, Sept 5, by Rev. Harrison LITTLE, Mr. William P. CECIL, a merchant of Cedar Bluff, to Miss Ida SWANGO. We welcome this happy couple to our town, and wish them much and lasting happiness and prosperity.

Mr. Will COPENHAVER of the Cove, died of flux last Friday night and was buried Sunday afternoon. Mr. COPENHAVER was one of the most popular young men in the Cove, and the large crowd present at the funeral showed the esteem in which he was held during his life. Rev. Thomas MOWBRAY conducted the services.
