GENERAL AND LOCAL NEWS

It is with great regret we chronicle the death of Mrs. Lucy JONES, wife of Mr. C.W. JONES, at her home, in town, Monday morning. She was the daughter of Mr. Thomas HANKINS, of this place. She leaves a husband and two young children, besides her parents, brothers and sister, to mourn her loss. The burial took place Wednesday morning.

Mrs. Henry E. PEERY and little daughters, who have been spending the summer with her parents.

Capt. and Mrs. A.J. TYNES at their home "Rocky Dell" have left for their western home, London, Neb. They were accompanied by Miss Hattie TYNES, who will spend the winter in the west.

The many friends of Mrs. S.C. GRAHAM will hear with regret of her death on Thursday evening at her home on Marion Avenue. Mrs. GRAHAM had been an invalid for a number of years. She leaves a husband and four children, also a large circle of friends and relatives to mourn her loss.

Our east and citizens will be pleased to learn that the supervisors have at last awakened to the necessity of repairing the road near "Rocky Dell" which had become a disgrace to the county and a danger to travel. We hope more work of the same sort will be done as much of the same road is in a wretched condition.
