LOCAL TAZEWELL
                

Dr. Acellies TYNES who has been very low with typhoid fever is considered out of danger. Mrs. S.M.B. COULLING, who has been visiting her father in Eastern Virginia, has returned home.

A great many young people spent a delightful evening at Dr. HUFFORD'S Thursday. Hon. William F. RHEA will address the Tazewell Free Silver Club next Friday night. Everybody invited.

Mr. W.G. YOUNG has returned fro Gate City, where he went to attend the Republican Congressional Convention.

On one of the days of the fair Prof. STEELE will liberate a goose in mid air and the person getting it and returning the parachute to Fair Grounds will receive the goose, but they must return the parachute to the grounds.

We are glad to learn that Mrs. A. J. TYNES who has been very sick with typhoid fever, is thought to be some what improved.

Mr. W.G. HARRISON left for the East last week where he will buy a large stock of fall and winter goods for the firm of Harrisson, Surface and Co.

Aunt Jane CARTER, a highly respected colored woman, living in West end of town, died very suddenly at her home last night. She was out late last night at some of her neighbors, and died during the night.

Mrs. Stephenson FOX, sister of our townsman, Mr. J.H. GREEVER, died at her home in Burkes Garden Tuesday the 18th.

Robert REPASS, of scale house force, died at the residence of Squire CARR in the West end at 3:10 this morning of typhoid fever. His father and mother were with him. He is a son of T.A. REPASS of Cedar Bluff, Tazewell County and was 21 years of age. His remains will be taken to Cedar Bluff this morning for interment.
