LOCAL TAZEWELL

Mr. James BROWN, brother of E. D. BROWN of Tazewell, died at Coeburn last Monday morning from the effects of an accident. Mr. BROWN was a stone mason and was employed by Toms Creek Coal and Coke Co. While engaged in building a foundation for a tipple at the mines, a piece of timber fell from overhead and caught his right leg on the edge of the stone foundation, mangling the leg frightfully. Mr. BROWN bled to death. He was 32 years of age and unmarried.

Agnes LAMBERT died last Tuesday afternoon at the home of Jane HELMANDOLLAR in this town. The young girl came here from Burke's Garden.

Mrs. VALE, one of the oldest citizens of Burke's Garden, has gone to Tennessee to spend the winter.

Mr. and Mrs. J.M. HOGE, of Burke's Garden, are visiting Tazewell.

Mrs. J.A. GREEVER remains ill at the home of her father in Burke's Garden.
