Mr. Robert MAXWELL, probably the oldest citizen of Tazewell, was in town
on court day. He is nearly 92 years old, hale and hearty. He rode horseback to town without worry, took dinner with Thos. Hankins, and
returned in the afternoon. His sight, hearing, and faculties generally are
good, and he has the promise of several years yet of active life.
Mrs. Will Ed PEERY and the children are visiting in Graham this week.
J.C. WILCOX spent several days this week with his family here.
Rev. Mr. WAYTS baptized 15 people in Plum creek this morning, partial
result of his revival at Liberty.
J.K. GROSECLOSE, of the firm of Gose and Grosclose, Burke's Garden, is
attending Court this week.
Porter Brothers are doing the painting on the front of the Peery block on
Main street.
Miss Nannie GILLESPIE of Falls Mills is visiting Miss Millie BAKER
on Tazewell Ave.
Mr. J.E. GROSECLOSE, of Abbs Valley one of our best men, and a true friend
of the NEWS called to see us on yesterday. Mrs. GROSECLOSE was in town
also.
Mr. and Mrs. T.J. RADER returned the first of the week from a visit to
Glenn LYNN, Mrs. RADERS old home.
Maj. A.G. PENDLETON, a prominent lawyer of Marion, brother of Col.
W.C. PENDLETON is in the city.
Mrs. William BUCHANAN, one of the most worthy ladies of Clear Fork, was
shopping in town a few days ago.
