Rev. W.L.
DUDLEY, of Lancaster Pa is visiting his mother, Mrs. Eliza DUDLEY, of Upper Mud Fork and holding a protracted
meeting at this place. The meeting will continue over next Sunday.
The Sunday-school at this place held its picnic in the church grove last
Saturday. There was a very good crowd and lots of nice things to eat, and
all present seemed to enjoy the occasion.
A terrible hail storm and rain prevailed in this section Friday night,
ruining peoples corn and gardens and tearing up things generally.
J.R. BROWN and mother returned Saturday from a two weeks stat at Craig
Healing Springs, greatly improved in health.
Mrs. Sarah KIRTNER is visiting her daughter, on the C & O railroad.
News reaches here that Mrs. Robert TABOR who went to Mexico for her health
seemed to improve for a while, but grew worse later and is now on her way
back.
Miss Mary DUDLEY returned to her home Sunday, near Vivian, after a week's
visit to relatives here and at Graham.
All were sorry to hear of Mr. Hugh TABOR'S death at his home near here
Sunday. He had been in bad health for a long time, but was able to go around until he was injured by a mowing scythe, after which he was laid
up. I am informed that consumption was the cause of his death. The community has lost a good, honest citizen, and the family a kind and
affectionate husband and father.
Silas HILL, son of Mrs. Wiley HILL, and who has been bookkeeper for the
Thistle Foundry for sometime in Graham, came home Monday, very sick with
fever.
