Rev. PANGLE of the M.E.S. Church accompanied by Mr. Ernest IRESON, Maxwell, preached his first sermon at the Union Church here Sunday at 11 o'clock. The congregation enjoyed his sermon.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe LONG, Misses CRABTREE and Carrie DYE, Mr. Will
HOOPS and others came down from Maxwell Sunday and attended the protracted meeting at the church of God.
Mrs. Nancye DAVIS who was right sick at her bungalow home last week is better. She was attended by her nephew, Dr. W.R.
WILLIAMS, Richlands.
Dr. Robert GRAHAM, Sinking Waters, was called here this morning to see the youngest child of Mr and Mrs. G.C.
SHAMBLIN. The child is 3 years old and has pneumonia.
Mrs. Rebekah WILLIAM'S residence caught fire on Saturday of last week, from a terra cotta pipe and but for the timely aid of neighbors would have been destroyed. A small portion of the roof of the dining room and kitchen was burned.
The protracted meeting which begun over two weeks ago, and which is being conducted by Revs. French WILSON, H.
McGRAW, G.R. THOMAS and R.W. PRUETT will perhaps close tonight. The sermons have been very interesting and
instructive. Three services were held Sunday.
