Anna Lee, the young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William KIMBALL, whose critical illness was noted in the last issue of this paper, died on Saturday morning at the Sanatorium here, following an operation for appendicitis, on the Saturday preceding. The funeral services were conducted at the home on Sunday morning, at 10 o'clock, and the little body was laid to rest in Maple Shade cemetery. The physicians who performed the operation found the case a very bad one but the operation seemed entirely successful, and for several days there was strong hope of her recovery. Later in the week blood poisoning appeared, and every effort of physicians and nurses was unavailing to arrest the progress of the deadly affection. Her death followed several hours of unconsciousness, and was, therefore painless. There were no marks of suffering through which she passed during her illness visible upon her calm, placid face, as looking upon in her coffin. Only the shadow of the eternal mystery rested upon her brow, marble like in whiteness, and enveloped in the holy hush of an eternal silence. Anna Lee was eleven years old, a child of the sweetest disposition, unselfish and devoted to her mother and the little ones, the light of her home, and the joy of her parents. The funeral service, conducted by Rev. Mr. WILEY, assisted by the different ministers of the town, was simple and appropriate. Rev. Mr. WILEY spoke tenderly and lovingly of the blessed, glorified child. One of the ministers read from the Book, "He that liveth and believeth in me shall never die." Miss KISER sang, tenderly, "Safe in the arms of Jesus." the choir sang feelingly and earnestly, as best their husky voices would permit. The service seemed more like a triumphal celebration, somehow, than like a funeral occasion. There seemed coming from the silence, flower covered, tear-moistened casket, great sermons and dissertations about the glorified and the glorifying Christ, and the crowd went away from the home over which the shadow had fallen, carrying a great mysterious benediction with them.
