Mr. H.S. SURFACE, who will be deputy clerk under Dr. GREEVER has moved his family here from Pocahontas, and is occupying the Witten property west of town.

John B. YOUNG, one of the best known citizens of the county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Emmett SCOTT, at Cedar Bluff, last Sunday, in his eighty ninth year. The burial occurred Tuesday. He is survived by his wife and three daughters - Mrs. George BREWER, of Greenbrier, WV; Mrs. Charles MCNEIL, of Arizona, and Mrs. SCOTT. A more extended notice of his life and death will appear in a future issue of the NEWS.

It becomes my painful duty to write a few works in memory of our beloved brother Guy T. ALTIZER, who departed this life, October 2, 1911. Gay was stricken down in the bloom of his youth. He had been in bad health for several months, which had weakened his system very much. He was then attacked by typhoid fever and he lived less than a week, leaving a father and mother, several brothers and sisters and many friends to mourn his loss.
