POUNDING MILL

Miss Sada MCGUIRE and R.J. HURT, Indian, were pleasant visitors here, this morning between trains.

Mrs. Byrd BREWSTER is at the bedside of her husband, who still continues very ill at the Williams hospital. Little hope is entertained for his recovery.

Miss Mabel BOURNE and Marylin ALDER, Bondtown, who have been visiting Mrs. W.B. STEELE, their cousin and aunt, respectively, for a few days, left on No. 12 this morning to visit the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John BOURNE, at Gratton.

The temperance entertained and lecture given by the Richlands workers were very much enjoyed by a full house. The following persons took a part: Revs. BALDWIN and BEHRMAN, Misses THOMPSON, GENTRY, BOGGESS, STINSON, also Rev. Isaac WRIGHT, Bluefield. Much good along the temperance line could be accomplished, if these workers could travel and give entertainments at different places. Ask them to give you one. They have a splendid program.

Mrs. Charles GRINSTEAD and children spent the latter part of the week at Indian visiting relatives and attending the protracted meeting at the Methodist church at that place.

B. CREWEY and son Charles, Indian, were visitors here Sunday. Alex BEAVERS had a bad case of quinsy last week, but has about recovered.  Mrs. M.J. STURGILL made a flying trip to Bluefield Wednesday.

Miss Pearl MCGUIRE has accepted a position in the Appalachia High School, one of the teachers having married and left.

George BREWSTER was on the sick list several days last week suffering from cold.
