News reached this office of the death of Newton WALK. He was a native of Thompson Valley, this county. He spent last year in this section, returning some time ago to the west where he owned a farm. He died some time ago, but for some reason the sad news did not reach this office until recently. He was a good man, had entered the ministry and gave promise of usefulness. His sister, Mrs.
STEPHENSON, lives here, and his brothers and other relatives are well-known people of this county. His death is said to have been due to brights disease. He left a wife and several small children.
Misses Hellen and Nell GILLESPIE were here this afternoon from Knob, where they have spent the past twelve days visiting their brother Will and family. Two of Mr.
GILLESPIE'S children returned home with them.
