Mr. C. N. HANKINS who has been in Texas for the
past two or three years, returned to his home here last Friday
afternoon. He is reported to be in very poor health.
A party of young people are in camp this week at the "Molly Hopper" hold
near Pounding Mill. The party is composed of Graham PRESTON,
Barns MOORE, Robert JACKSON, Rufus BRITTIAN, Henry
PRESTON, Jr., Houston ST. CLAIR, Billy COPENHAVER.
Hon. A.P. GILLESPIE is very ill at his home here, and has been
for several days. From what can be gathered from members of the family
and others who have visited his bedside, there seems to be very little
hope of his recovery, and in fact, his death would not be a surprise at
any time.
J.R. HENRY of Princeton and W.B. HENRY of Tazewell, came
near being in a serious automobile
accident at Burkes Garden siding Monday night. They rounded the curve
near Henry PEERY'S at a high rate of speed, and bumped into a
freight train standing on the siding. The car was badly damaged, and has
been in a repair shop here since the accident.
Mrs. Walter MCCALL, of Kentucky is on a
visit to parents Mr. and Mrs. Reese WHITLEY.
Mr. and Mrs. Iron MAY of Bluefield are visiting Mrs. MAY'S mother Mrs. PORTER
of Adria.
