POUNDING MILL

Mr. Roy LEE fell off the tipple, yesterday afternoon, that is under construction, a distance of 20 feet receiving a bad cut on the top of his head, which necessitated several stitches.  Dr. COMBS was the attending physician.

Miss Ada HARRIS, stenographer, came down from Bluefield this afternoon to recuperate. She has been working both day and night. Will spend a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton HARRIS.

Mrs. M.J. STURGILL visited Mrs. Albert MAXWELL in Bluefield Sunday and Monday. Mrs. MAXWELL continues ill.

Mrs. W. B. STEELE and daughter, Miss Uva, visited her mother, Mrs. J. Marion MCGUIRE and family at Cedar Bluff Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. C.T. FIELDS and baby, Mary Virginia, were also guests.

Mr. N.O. GILLESPIE spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John GILLESPIE, at Witten's Mills. Newt, who is a great "run-about", motored in the right direction that time, and his machine, from her honker quoted in loud clarion tones, through the stillness of the mountains: "Honor thy father and mother."

Messrs. Charles and Tom ROBINETT, of Waverly, Ohio who were called home on account of the serious illness of their sister, Mrs. William CALDWELL, arrived too late to see her alive, she having passed away four hours previous.

Mr. Grover Cleveland SHAMBLIN, Chief of Police of this place, went to Richlands today. The Chief is good at extracting the dough of criminals, so everybody had better look sharp.  R.M. SPARKS went to Richlands this afternoon.

Mr. Aaron RUSSELL, of Indian, was a business visitor here yesterday. He's looking well, about as fat as a chicken's forehead.

W. B. STEELE is shearing sheep this week: R.K. GILLESPIE and George HURT sheared last week, each has a large flock.  D.C. LOWE, road supervisor, was the guest of W.B. STEELE Saturday.
