Mrs. W.E. LAMBERT and little son,
Raymond, were visiting relatives in the village last week. It will be remembered by some
of our readers that their store was destroyed by fire at Berwind several months ago. They
were burned out again at Canebrake about three weeks ago. Their many friends are very
sorry to hear this.
Mrs. Mary MARRS was the guest of her brother, J.C. LAMBERT Thursday night.
Mrs. R.L. LAMBERT and little son, Byron, have returned home from an extended visit
to their mother and grandmother, Mrs. DAY at Narrows.
J.P. BEAVERS went to Richlands last Saturday to see his sister, Mrs. Charles HENKLE,
who is in the Mattie Williams hospital. She continues very ill.
Mrs. J.F. BEAVERS and daughter, Miss Theresa, were the guests of Mrs. Susan BEAVERS
Sunday.
Mrs. W.B. YOUNG was the guest of her sister, Miss Ella YOUNG last Saturday.
Arthur PAYNE and his blushing bride were visiting relatives here the first of the
week. He has just returned from France, where he saw several months service for Uncle Sam.
Mrs. Vicie BEAVERS, of War, spent last Friday night with her father, W.M. BEAVERS.
Every heart in this community was saddened last Saturday morning on
hearing of the death of Mrs. Milton WHITT. She was Miss Lona
CREED, before her marriage to Mr. WHITT about twelve years ago. Mrs.
WHITT was a kind and loving wife and mother. She leaves to mourn her loss a father, mother, two brothers and three sisters, a husband and several children. May the god of pity comfort these sad hearts.
