FARMERS WANT DEMONSTRATOR - Sentiment Almost Unanimous In Favor of Retaining County Agent - Present Incumbent Strongly Endorsed: The attendants at the court house meeting Tuesday left with no doubt in their minds as to wishes of the farmers of the county regarding the county demonstrator. The meeting was the largest and most representative farmers gathering ever held in Tazewell, and was almost unanimous in giving its approval to the work of the county demonstrator and was very demonstrative and plain in its wishes that the work be continued in Tazewell.

John D. PEERY, chairman of the Board of Supervisors, and members D.C. LOWE and George F. ROSENBAUM were also present. Mr. PEERY stated that the meeting had been widely advertised, and that no doubt all present had made up their minds and were ready to express themselves either for or against, and he there upon, put the question, "All who favor discontinuing the county demonstration work will please stand." As soon as this question was put Dr. Isaac PEIRCE and Prof. A.S. GREEVER were promptly on their feet and insisted that permission be given those who favor the work to be heard, and also that the county agent WALL be permitted to read the record of his work in the county. There was a loud call for WALL, who came forward and read his report, at the conclusion of which, Prof. HUTCHINSON, of V.P.I. In charge of demonstration work in Virginia was called upon and made a telling and convincing speech in favor of continuing the work in Tazewell county. he said that he did not come to Tazewell to tell the farmers what they wanted, that they all knew that, and he did not come here as spokesman for R.R. WALL, the present county demonstrator, or any other man, but came to Tazewell to help the farmers keep on the upward grade of progress, and maintain their place with the other progressive counties in the State. he said that seventy counties of the hundred in Virginia had county demonstrators, and that two counties at this time were anxious to get the Tazewell agent at a much higher salary than he was receiving here.
