LOCAL TAZEWELL
                

W.E. TABOR, the Boissevain officer brought Arch THOMPSON, a white man, to jail here, on the first of the week, and lodged him in jail. The charge against him was white slavery. He was tried before Magistrate George W. GILLESPIE, at Boissevain. The facts as shown at the trail before the Magistrate, it is said, showed that THOMPSON brought a young girl from Logan County, West Virginia, to Boissevain for immoral purposes some time last December. It is stated that THOMPSON left his wife last summer at Jenkins Jones. 

Monroe HERALD was brought here at the same time by officer TABOR, charged with violation of the prohibition laws. HERALD was drunk, and had a quart of moonshine in his possession.

The following persons indicted by the grand jury have been sentenced to terms and given fines as indicated: Tyler KEESEE, thirty days on the roads; Newt WHITAKER, 30 days and $100; J.R. DAWSON, 30 days and $50; W.P WYATT, 30 days and $100; Hunter CHRISTIAN, Jeff MYERS, Grover GRIFFITH, Paul PATRICK, Olen BAILEY and Jack WHITT reform school; J.H. HORTON one year in penitentiary; Burnell FOWLKES, six months; Frank HARWAT, Sr. 45 days and $100; Frank HARWAT, Jr. 48 days and $100; Sam BOGLE, 30 days and $50; Maggie CAUDILL, sixty days; Clyde JONES, 18 months; Ed HOUCHINS, $50 and costs; F.M. SCOTT 30 days and $50; Crockett JONES, 30 days and $50; Dexter SIKES, 55 days and $100.
