LOCAL TAZEWELL
                

The Sunday school had a Xmas tree on Tuesday night after Christmas. There were presents for all the school. Rev. W. E. HUGHES preached on Christmas Day. On last Sunday 72 pupils were present at Sunday School, new officers and teachers were elected. Mr. G.R. RILEY was re-elected as superintendent and Mrs. J.L. RINGSTAFF re-elected as secretary and treasurer. 

The following teachers and pupils have returned to their schools: Dr. R.F. GILLESPIE to Richmond Medical College; Miss Barbara HURT, teacher, Gerard, Ohio; Miss Mary B. GILLESPIE, pupil, Columbia University, New York; Misses Mary and Kate HURT to Bethany College, West Virginia; Miss Lois HURT, New Bern, N.C. to teach music; Miss Ollie Kate GILLESPIE, Goucher College, Baltimore, Md.; James HUNTER, Episcopal School, Lynchburg, Va; Jim Sam GILLESPIE, Tazewell; the teachers, Miss Garnette PHARR, Gap Mills, West Virginia, Miss OBERSHAIN, Botetourt County, and Miss HAGER, Max Meadows, reopened school here Monday. 

Miss Maggie MYRES, Newport News, visited her sister in law, Mrs. Laura MYRES and family Christmas week.

Mrs. W.B. STEELE, as is her usual custom, spent Christmas day and ate turkey with her mother. Other guests were, Mr. P.G. CLAYPOOL, Grant City, Mo; Mr. and Mrs. F.G MCGUIRE, Prestonsburg, Ky; Mr. and Mrs. James E. MCGUIRE and sons, Mr. and Mrs. John B. GILLESPIE and little daughter of this place.

Quite a number of dinners were enjoyed among the returned pupils and teachers here. Mrs. Ollie HURT'S R.K. GILLESPIE's and Mrs. C.M. HUNTER'S.

Mr. J. Logan RINGSTAFF and Miss Gussie CHRISTIAN went to Princeton on Wednesday before Christmas and were married after a courtship of 10 years. The groom is a son of Mrs. Susan RINGSTAFF, of this place, while the bride is the daughter of Mrs. Mary CHRISTIAN. They will live here.
