GENERAL NEWS

A man by the name of SHEPPARD was arrested here Sunday morning at one o'clock by night officer WHITAKER for the authorities at Coeburn. It is understood that the man was wanted in connection with a carnival that has been playing Coeburn for several days. SHEPPARD might have gotten away had it not been for a blow out of one of the tires of her Oakland car. The accident occurred on Main Street and WHITAKER had no difficulty in affecting the arrest. The officer at Coeburn requested that the man be brought there, and WHITAKER had started with him and had only gotten a few miles from town when the Sheriff was met, who took charge of the man. SHEPPARD is said to have been with a show here last year.

The new homes of Aaron RUSS, Henry KISER, Albert PEERY, L.H. BYRD, will be ready for occupancy before the frosts (at least they all hope so.) The work is being pushed on each house. A number of new houses are in prospect for the very near future - R.O. VANDYKE expects to build a fine home on a valuable lot recently purchased in East Tazewell; Garland PEERY is figuring nights on a new home; J.T. HELDRETH has recently acquired a valuable lot in East Tazewell on which to erect a house, and a number of others are wrestling with the house problem. Old H.C.L. is still in the way of a building boom for the town.

Leaguers, I am depending on you to make this one of the most successful years in League work that Holston Conference has ever known. It is you that the League depends on, you will make it a success or a failure. Let us all work together and make the Tazewell Intermediate League a gold seal League for the next assembly. If you are not a Leaguer, come and join next Sunday at 4 PM in the Sunday school room of the Methodist Church. We need you and we want you so come. Yours in Christ's service, Lois HURT, Int. Supt.
