GENERAL NEWS

Pounding Mill - About 4 PM, Monday, July 7, the death angel came quietly and claimed for its own Mrs. Martha SHAMBLIN, wife of our townsman, H.E. SHAMBLIN. She had been ill of dropsy for almost a year, and her death was not unexpected. She was a Miss EARLS, before marriage, and was twice married, her first husband being Mr. Bird BRUSTER, who proceeded her to the grave several years ago. She was born May 4, 1866 (?), and married to H.E. SHAMBLIN, November 31, 1915. Her funeral was preached at the Ringstaff cemetery on Tuesday at 4 PM by her pastor, T.S. HARRIS, of Red Ash, assisted by Rev. Johnson FURROW, Christiansburg, of Church of God, in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. Ten flower girls carried the many beautiful floral tributes. Mrs. SHAMBLIN many times told her relatives and friends that she was ready and gave instructions for her burial and funeral. Much sympathy goes out to the bereaved ones. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."
