GRATTON
                

Maggie JOHNSON was operated upon for tonsils in Bluefield sanitarium Friday and is getting along very well.

Mr. and Mrs. W. G. BAUGH and family of Bluefield WV spent the day with Mr. BAUGH'S mother, who has been sick for several weeks, returning Sunday p.m.

Mrs. Elizabeth BURTON had on last Sunday the 5th, her 73rd birthday. 8 of her 9 children ate picnic lunch with her. Ella was the only one absent. She is in school at Athens. All enjoyed the day. Those at home were: J. C. BURTON, Elkhorn, WV; L. E., Bluefield Va.; Mrs. C.G. JONES, Mrs. R.C. COOPER, Mrs. E. C. MCFARLAND, Rosa, Ada, and Marvin.

Mr. and Mrs. U.J. SHAFFER spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. R. C. COOPER last Sunday a week ago, returning Sunday pm

Mr. John BLACKWELL and family, of Bluefield Va. spent several days with Mrs. C. E. BURTON this week.

Mrs. Sallie BUCHANAN returned to her home at Gratton from an extended visit to her sister in Mo. also with her niece, Mrs. Blanche COOK, of Davy, WV, Mrs. COOK'S daughter, Freda, accompanied her through the entire trip.

Mr. Clarence YOST, Of Keystone, and family are spending some time with homefolks here.

Mr. and Mrs. Bob BOURNE and son, Will, are on a pleasure trip to Norfolk and other eastern cities this week.
