GENERAL NEWS
                

Mr. John ASBURY, aged 89, died on Feb. 27, at the home of J.M. OSBORNE, Tannersville. The funeral service was conducted by Rex COX, of Broadford, and burial in the Crabtree cemetery. Deceased was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George ASBURY, and was married to Miss Amanda DAUGHERTY Feb. 2, 1862. To this union 12 children were born, eight of whom are living. He was the oldest citizen of the community, and was an ex-confederate soldier, having served with distinction throughout the four years of the civil war.

Richlands, Va. March 14 - Mrs. Tom CHAMBERS died at her home near Red Ash in Buchanan county, Sat, March 10th. Mrs. CHAMBERS was stricken with paralysis March 4. She was 62 years old, and had been in very good health up to the time she was stricken with paralysis. She is survived by a husband and 6 children, viz: Mrs. Charles ABSHER, Mrs. Chris HORTON, Mrs. Babe WADE, Mrs. Everett HONAKER, of S.C; Mrs. Robert CHAMBERS and Chap CHAMBERS, of Jewell Ridge. Funeral was held at the home Monday, conducted by Rev. Westly (sic) HUBBARD, of Honaker and burial was in the cemetery near his home.
