GENERAL NEWS

The body of Thomas GILLESPIE, a well-known farmer of Abbs Valley, was found last Saturday morning not far from his home by his son, Fayate. A bullet wound in the left side, from a pistol found near the corpse, was the cause of his death. One cartridge had been fired. Whether or not it was suicide, accident or murder, has not been decided. The Commonwealths Attorney, Mr. SMITH, made an investigation, and gave out no opinion. The general opinion is that it was a case of suicide, but just why he should have shot himself in the left lower side is not clear. Some think it was an accident. Deceased was 68 years of age, brother to Luther GILLESPIE, of Tazewell and to Mrs. C. A. MITCHELL, of Bluefield, and oldest son of the late Floyd GILLESPIE of Gratton.
