GRATTON
                

Rev. C.G. MCKAY assisted by Rev. Mr. PHILLIPS are conducting a revival meeting at Mt. Olivet. They are having a great meeting. The people are very much interested and we are having some fine preaching by Mr. PHILLIPS.

On last Friday, August5th, Mrs. Elizabeth BURTON, on her 77th birthday, had a her guests, Mr. and Mrs. E.C. MCFARLAND, Mr. and Mrs. R.C. COOPER and son, Joe; Mrs. C.W. JONES and daughter, Thelma, Mr. and Mrs. W.L. BURTON, of Bluefield, Va. and Mrs. Maggie MATHENA, of Russell County, nephew and niece of Mrs. BURTON, also her cousin, P.G. BAUGH all for the day.

Mr. and Mrs. Howard BARLOW, of Bluefield, West Virginia, Mr. and Mrs. George COOPER, of Petersontown, West Virginia spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. R.C. COOPER, at this place. Mr. COOPER is an uncle of R.C. COOPER. All returned the same day.

Miss Ella BURTON returned from Athens last Saturday, where she had attended Concord State Teachers College.

Rev. Mr. HONEYCUTT, Lutheran minister, poached a fine sermon to the children, Sunday P.M. A large congregation present, fine music. A duet was sung by the two little girls of Will HARRIS, which was enjoyed by all.

Mr. and Mrs. E.C. MCFARLAND went to Ceres to the funeral of Mrs. May HARMER, who died Sunday. She was a niece of Mr. MCFARLAND.

Mr. and Mrs. Melvin WRIGHT, Mrs. May RICHERSON, all of Roanoke, spent the day with Mr. and Mrs. E.C. MCFARLAND, Sunday. Both ladies are nieces of Mr. MCFARLAND.
