Mrs.
Rachel BEAVERS, born on April 15, 1834, died at her home at
Maxwell Tuesday morning, death being due to infirmities of age.
She was a daughter of the late Samuel and Annie LAMBERT, and was
born in McDowell County WV. Her husband, James BEAVERS, long a
well-known citizen of the county, died 28 years ago. The funeral
and burial took place Wednesday afternoon. She was a member of
the Methodist Church. She was the mother of eight children, Viz:
Sam BEAVERS, Mrs. Jane WALDRON, Harve, Gus, James, Nannie, Tom,
and Crockett BEAVERS, all of whom are dead but two. At the time
of her death she was probably the oldest woman in the county.
Mrs.
Frank C. FOX, died on last Thursday at her home in Cambria, at
the age of sixty-one. Death was due to heart trouble. Mrs.
FOX
was the daughter of Thomas BROWN, on of the pioneer settlers of
Burkes Garden, where Mrs. FOX lived until 19 years ago, when she
moved to Cambria. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at
the Cambria Methodist church, of which she had been a devout
member. Besides her husband Mrs. FOX is survived by one son, Trubie
FOX, of Bluefield, and a sister, Mrs. R.N. LEFERVE, of
Newport News, Va., and the following brothers and sisters; Reece
Bowen BROWN, Seattle, Wash.; O.J., C. F. H.C. and J. F.
BROWN,
all of Yakima, Wash.; Mrs. Ray SHELTON and Mrs. Lydia
KNIGHT, of Lavenworth, Wash; Mrs. Agnes PEERY, Los Angeles, Cal., Mrs.
Gordon HALL, Oak Grove, Mo.
Mrs.
James M. TAULBEE, (nee) Miss Maude COMBS, of Russell county, Va,
died at Benavides, Texas, on June 13th, aged 55 years. She was
the daughter of the late S. F. and Elizabeth COMBS, of Fineey
VA. She attended school in Tazewell when a girl and in 1896 she
married Dr. J. M. TAULBEE, of Hazel Green, Ky. To this union
were born five Children. Surviving Mrs. TAULBEE are: her
husband, Dr. J. M. TAULBEE, two sons, Dr. Paul TAULBEE, of
Benavides, Tex; James TAULBEE, jr. of the US Navy, and one
daughter, Mrs. Howard KING. Two children preceded her to the
grave; Chas TAULBEEand Mary Ann TAULBEE. Four grandchildren
also survive; Paul Jr., Mary Ann, Howard and William TAULBEE,
they being the Children of Dr. Paul TAULBEE. Mrs.
TAULBEE was a
member of the Lebanon, Va. Baptist Church. Mrs.
TAULBEE
was laid
to rest in the Fraternal cemetery at Alise, Tex. Thursday, June
15th. There were 70 floral offerings. Rev. PEARSON, of the first
Baptist church of Alice, conducted the services and the funeral
was in charge of the Moyer mortuary of Alice. Dr. and Mrs.
TAULBEE lived for four years at Seaboard near Richlands, where
Dr. TAULBEE was company physician for the George Carter coal
mines. Later the consolidation Coal company, before living at
Seaboard, they resided in Russell County, VA.
