The
Clear Fork section of Tazewell county lost one of its most
valuable citizens by death last Friday when H. M. KINSER died
after a brief illness of pneumonia. He was sick but a few days.
Death occurred Friday afternoon. His wife and seven children
were present when he passed. An unusually large throng of people
gathered at Kinser's chapel Sunday afternoon to pay their
respects to a departed friend. The funeral service was in charge
of Rev. Mr. WATTS, assisted by Dr. W. W. ARROWOOD, of Tazewell.
The chapel in which the service was held was named in honor of
the late Thomas KINSER, father of the deceased, who built the
church many years ago, since which time it was taken over by the
conference. Besides his widow, he is survived by several
children, among them being Harrison KINSER, democratic candidate
for sheriff; also J.H. KINSER, of Bland County; Mrs. Laura
THOMPSON, of Bluefield; Luther KINSER, Mrs. Minnie
HOWELL, Mrs.
Sallie LEFFEL, and Mrs. Clara SHAWVER, of Shawver Mills. Millard
KINSER was indeed a leading citizen of the county. He was the
personification of energy and thrifty, and lived honorably and
uprightly. The pallbearers were members of his Sunday School
class.
Mrs.
Josephine Markum HENSHEW, age 78, widow of Samuel S.
HENSHEW,
died at Ceres Sunday. She was
the mother of Rev. Harvey
HENSHEW, of Cedar Bluff. Several
children also survive.
Mrs.
E.L. GREEVER - Whereas,
God in His wisdom has removed from our circle one whom we all
loved, who had served the Tazewell Woman's club as President and
at the time of her going was our vice-president. Therefore, be
it resolved, that as a body we mourn the passing of this
faithful member and wish to extend our sincere sympathy to her
husband. That a copy of these resolutions be sent to Mr.
GREEVER, and that they be recorded in the minutes of our Club.
Mrs. Barns GILLESPIE, Mrs. W.T. GILLESPIE, Mrs. A. G.
RUSSELL,
Committee.
