LOWE, of Raven, said to have been in trouble frequently, was caught in commissary No. 1 of the Raven Red Ash Coal Company last Friday by the manager Gordon
CLEVINGER. The store had been robbed the night before, and CLEVINGER hid behind a broom rack on this particular night, and waited, and in a short time LOWE "picked" the lock of the door and came in and was wandering around the store when
CLEVINGER came out of hiding and covered the man with a pistol. Deputy Sheriff
JEWELL was called, and LOWE was manacled and brought to jail here. It is said that
LOWE served time before, and at one time escaped from the Buchanan County jail at Grundy.
A man from Abbs Valley was fined for speeding. The traffic officer thought he was making 75 miles per hour on the road to Bluefield. A young man, just reaching his majority, was held for jury. He testified in Judge
PEERY'S court in Graham Tuesday and reversed himself when he came to Tazewell. Another young man, in trouble frequently, will be sent to the school of correction. The game warden didn't have a very
successful day of it. He had a number of men before the court for various offences, all of whom were released. One man was charged with fishing before 5:30, but the fisherman claimed he didn't have a watch and didn't know the time.
In spite of the continuous rains since the opening of the trout season on last Saturday most of the local anglers and many from our neighboring West Virginia, have disregarded the inclemency of the weather and the flood conditions of the streams to try the luck, which in most instances turned out to be poor. On Tuesday Dr. W.C.
JACKSON, of Amonate, and Ross BEAVERS, of Dry Fork, with two friends, visited Wolfe Creek and in a pool just over on the Bland side, the physician made catches, one of which is very unlikely to be bested in size. The Doctor, a novice in the sport, landed a 24 1-4 inch rainbow, a 21 inch and 19 inch specimen of the same species. The total catch was only eleven. Probably, having had a hunch of impending success, the party carried along a ten gallon milk can instead of the customary creel and were enabled to bring back their quarry alive and have them on exhibition at Amonate.
