Mrs.
Nellie Gildersleeve PEERY, 66 years of age died Monday night of
a sudden heart attack. Mrs. PEERY was the wife of the late
Samuel G. PEERY, of Tazewell. She was born Dec. 23, 1875 at
Tazewell, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. S.
GILDERSLEEVE.
For the past sixteen years Mrs. PEERY had made her home among
her children. There survives the following children; Mrs. Ralph
THOMPSON, of Bluefield, WV.; Mrs. Wroth W. GEORGE, of North Holston; Mrs. John M.
COLE, Augusta, Ga.; Private Robert L.
PEERY, of the engineer corps, Fort George Meade, Md. Ned G.
PEERY, of Roanoke; Woodrow W. PEERY of Bristol. The following
sisters and brothers survive; Mrs. J. W. TARTER, of North
Tazewell; Mrs. R. S. UMBERGER, of Athens, WV.; Mrs. R. C.
COFER,
of Alderson, John R. GILDERSLEEVE, of English WV and Gilbert S.
GILDERSLEEVE, of Charlottesville. Funeral services were
conducted Thursday morning at 11am from the North Tazewell Methodist
church and were in charge of the Methodist pastor.
Mrs.
Letitia NEAL, wife of the late H.J. NEAL, died at her home at
Shawver's Mill Sunday afternoon. She suffered a cerebral
hemorrhage Tuesday morning, from which she never rallied. She
was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John HELMANDOLLAR and
was born at Shawver's Mill in 1859. She was the mother of 11
children, six of whom and Mr. NEAL, preceded her in death. Five
children survive: Mrs. Lon SUITER, Bluefield, Va.; R. G.
NEAL,
Trenton, Mo.; Mrs. J.W. BOWSER, of Washington, D. C.; Mrs. G. P.
BEAVERS, Caretta, WV.; Virgil Allen, of Huntington, and a number
of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were
conducted Tuesday at the Christian church at Shawver's Mill, and
were in charge of the Rev. Mr. RICHARDSON. Interment was in
Maple Hill cemetery, Bluefield, Va.
Mrs.
G. W. DENNY died at the Clinch Valley Clinic Friday night. Mrs.
DENNY was the former Miss Eva THOMAS and was born at Lebanon Va.
Jan. 25, 1901 and was married to Mr. DENNY in 1922. Besides her
husband there survives one daughter and the following brothers
and sisters; Mrs. Charles MONK, of Pulaski; Mrs. C. L.
BICKING,
of Roanoke; Mrs. J.C. MONK, of North Tazewell, Mrs. D. R.
COWEN,
North Tazewell; G. E. THOMAS of Hansonville and Mrs. Clarence
YATES, Arnold and J. A. THOMAS and Mrs. S. E.
WILLIAMS, all of
Lebanon. Funeral services were conducted from the Elk Garden
Methodist Church Sunday.
