John W. COMBS, aged 70 years of Pounding Mill, died Wednesday morning in a Richlands hospital of injuries received when he fell from a truck operated by Ed
MARTIN, his nephew. Mr. COMBS fell from the truck about a half mile south of Richlands on the Kents Ridge road. He was born in Tazewell County, a son of the late Pine and Mary Whitt
COMBS. He was employed at Jenkins Jones by the Pocahontas Fuel Company until 1947. His wife preceded him in death in 1950. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon in the Maxwell Methodist church.
Mrs. Lee HARRY, aged 68, died Wednesday evening at her home at Gratton after an illness of several weeks. She was a native of Peterstown and moved to Tazewell County in 1902 where she had since resided. In addition to her husband there survives two sons: Robert
HARRY, of Tazewell, and Frank HARRY, of Gratton; four sisters; Mrs. Steve
PECK, of Thorpe, WV; Mrs. Eugene CARTER, of Hagerstown Md.; Mrs. C. J.
KITTS, of Harlan, Ky., and Mrs. Leonard WEILLER, of Baltimore, Md. and two brothers, C. A.
PECK of Cincinnati and C.W. PECK, of Princeton. Funeral service will be held at 2PM Friday from the Mt. Olivet Methodist Church at
Gratton, with the Rev. Robert C. GILLESPIE in charge. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be W. R.
HARMAN, Lathrop BUCHANAN, Hugh COX, Carl MELVIN, Bob
COX and Theodore NIDERMAIER. The body was removed Thursday afternoon from Greever Funeral Home to the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
HARRY in Tazewell.
Mrs. Charles HUGHES, 52 years of age, died last Friday morning at her home in North Tazewell. She was the former Miss Bessie Mae
DYE and was born in Lebanon, Russell County. She and her husband moved from Lebanon to North Tazewell ten years ago. She is survived by her husband; four daughters, Mrs. E. O.
PRUETT, of Bishop; Mrs. Ray SCHULTB, of Beckley; Mrs. James
LONG and Miss Peggy HUGHES, of North Tazewell; six sons, Charles of
Stoesbury, Va.; Cylde, Burke, Jack, Bob and James, all of North Tazewell; five sisters, Mrs. Asa
SKYE and Mrs George HARRISON, of Lebanon; Mrs. Bill PATRICK, of
Richlands; Mrs. Russell BURKE, of Norfolk and Mrs. George HONAKER, of Honaker. Three brothers also survive. Funeral services were conducted Sunday from the Holiness Church in Lebanon.
